You’re in for a ” TREAT ” ~ Song of the Day ~ Santana

Recorded Live at Tanglewood (Lenox, MA) 8-18-1970

Carlos Santana – guitar, vocals
Gregg Rolie – keyboards, piano, lead vocals
David Brown – bass
Michael Shrieve- drums
Jose “Chepito” Areas – percussion, conga, timbales
Mike Carabello – percussion, conga, vocals

Santana was the debut studio album released in 1969 and I have it. And every song on it was my favorite. I got into all of it, but Treat stood alone. And Gregg Rolie Shined in this Number on Piano.

Side one
1.”Waiting” (Santana Band) – 4:07
2.”Evil Ways” (Clarence Henry) – 3:58
3.”Shades of Time” (Santana Band) – 3:13
4.”Savor” (Santana Band) – 2:47
5.”Jingo” (Babatunde Olatunji) – 4:23

Side two
1.”Persuasion” (Santana Band) – 2:36
2.”Treat” (Santana Band) – 4:46
3.”You Just Don’t Care” (Santana Band) – 4:37
4.”Soul Sacrifice” (Santana Band) – 6:34

As I’ve stated numerous times I got turned onto the Blues at 12 years old. The likes of  Janis, Hendrix, The Allman Brothers Band. And songs like Treat that had a flavor that seemed to be born into me. Once I got a taste there was no looking back. I fell in love with Blues….. and it became my passion.

It is a Feeling, a Mood, a Force, A Desire, it is Seductive and it is Real.

Blues is a drug that makes you feel good when there are times when nothing else should.

  1. Thanks for sharing Santana’s Treat. I listened to it over and over again. Spent over an hour reading and listening to the other hits of yesteryears in the Song of the Day. All in all your blog is very interesting… a real class act.

  2. Well thank you letitbeman I’m glad you enjoyed the muse. Music has always been my passion and blues my ecstasy. Learned to appreciate many different realms and genre’s, I just try to post what I think is the cream of the crop of all. Appreciate the support, please continue to tune in and joining the journey. I only wish I could bring back these days.

They only drawback is some of the earlier music blogs I posted. The recording labels in their grand fashion have demanded the removal of many of the video’s from YT that I’ve posted. At times just leaving me complete black screens and my anger that I didn’t write down each song I placed. I’ve got a lot of updating to do with many blogs for this reason. Just grateful not all were removed.
