The Best Moment in Television History. 1976 Jerry Lewis Labor Day MDA Telethon. Martin & Lewis Again.

I just pray that in Jerry Lewis’s life time that they find a cure for this devastating disease, Muscular Dystrophy.

This man and many we never hear about have worked endlessly for this cause. Jerry Lewis now 84 years young is still going as strong as his own health will allow. Now missing his right hand man Ed McMahon and most of the Entertainment from his Era. Jerry still forges on. But the Entertainment isn’t what it’s about. It’s what people tune in to see, but the Telethon is what it is. To donate any amount of dollars that people can afford to make the lives affected by this disease a little more livable. So when you think you are really sick, just look at one of these kids. Jerry’s Kids.

You will realize how Blessed you are. Throughout the years I’ve watched this Telethon ( Since 1966 ), and personally would have liked to see it again on a Network Channel.

But the moment of History not only for this Telethon but as far as I’m concerned The highlight moment of Television Period, was in 1976. A moment that not only my parents generation wanted to see again, but mine. And I absolutely adored this man. Frank Sinatra made it happen and no matter what Jerry Lewis ever said of him. You could tell by the look on his face just watching him perform again on that stage that night (@ 4:11 of the video). It was like watching a kid in Awe, Jerry himself looked like he couldn’t believe Dino was actually really there. Jerry Loved this man to death.

My God what that audience was about to witness and experience. I would have gave anything to have been there. You can hear their reaction. Unforgettably amazing.

WOW, CAN IT GET ANY CLASSIER THAN THIS.

I watched that night in 1976 and lived that moment along with the rest of America. I said Oh My God it’s Dean Martin.

And I sat there with a smile so wide I thought my face was going to explode. A Smile and Tears running down my face watching that Re-Union unfold in front of our eyes. I will never ever forget it. This had to be one of the top television moments in History. And how long people had waited for it. TOO LONG.

And no matter how many times I watch this video, I still react the way the first time I saw it. LIVE in 1976.

In Awe of the two most Two Some Acts in Entertainment History. It was a long time coming, and as the Chairman of the Board said. I think It’s about time, don’t you.

YES IT WAS. And that moment will never be forgotten. At least for me it won’t.

Well Dino is gone and Sinatra is gone. Thank God, there is still Jerry. This man has Blessed a lot of people in his life on this earth. Donate to the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and lets beat this evil disease.

May God Bless Jerry Lewis and may he let him stay with us many more years. And I pray a cure is found in his lifetime. Not for Jerry Lewis but for his Kids ( any Age ), Jerry wouldn’t have it any other way.
