Finally in the 90s in Detroit. Summer in the city I love it, especially the hot summer nights.

The song aka “Lujon” was composed by her Dad, Henry and as you can see the fruit here didn’t fall far from the Mancini tree of talent. Monica’s pours out of this as natural as breathing.

Starting out as a part of the Henry Mancini chorus singers she turned into one of the finest singers around today. Doing it in the first class style of the era her Dad came from. I still miss that genius and to me movie scores have never been the same since he left us.

Thank God he left us with his children. I only wish she would make more albums.

Soothing Saturday ~ Lujon ~ Henry Mancini

You can never get enough of the genius of Mancini.

This song was composed for the TV series Mr. Lucky in 1959 and was also known as “Slow Hot Wind”. Named after an African percussion instrument (constructed by pianist John Lewis) played by Shelly Mann on the track. To me it was just another Masterpiece by Mancini.
