Pete La Roca took this Jerome Moross composition and infused his musical soul and in my opinion put out the best rendition of this song that was ever done. With the help of Joe Henderson’s atmospheric sax playing, Steve Swallow’s guiding rhythm on the bass, Steve Kuhn’s climatic piano and finally Pete’s brushes softly guiding the piece… you go on a journey.
What another group of jazz’s grandest musicians. All excelled on this particular number and regarded as Green’s best. Something you can just drift on that makes everything seem alright.
On this Fathers day. Mine is very much missed.
Horace Ward Martin Tavares Silva composed this as a dedication to his Dad, John Tavares Silva. This song off his 12th album is Bossa Nova style also a dedication to his part Portuguese roots.
No doubt my favorite from Silver and no jazz catalog would be complete without it.
