Hazel Park Raceway Co-Owner Herbert Tyner Dies.

http://www.irakaufman.com/funeral-details.php?id=5939

With the death of Tyner what does the future hold for this race track. Hartman & Tyner not only own countless real estate holdings in apartments etc.. along with two Dog/Racino tracks in W.V. & Fl. the only venue losing money is Hazel Park.

Will the family of Tyner hang onto all of dealings as a package or eliminate any not making a profit?

I wrote on all the dirty dealings of Hartmen and Tyner in this BLOG in the W.V & Fl. Racino’s detailing it down to the bone.

April 14th,

I did Contact John Wisely of the Detroit Free Press today who did a rather in-depth article on July 15, 2014 when Jack “Blackjack” Tocco died last year at the age of 87 and asked why not the same coverage on Tony Z. His response he didn’t even know he had died.

Seems a lot of people don’t know he died or have chosen to ignore it.

Michigan Mourns The Loss Of Beloved Thoroughbred Horsemen, Larry Uelmen.

A lot of stunned friends right now at racetracks from Michigan and beyond who knew Larry.

A genuine good natured personality with a smile that will be missed forever.

A man so knowledgeable he helped create the Michigan Racing Law of 1995, which legalized full-card simulcasting for the states tracks. Elected President of the MIHBPA in the late 90s he would hold that position through the early 2000’s.

I will never forget watching Pongo Boy’s races at the Detroit Race Course in the mid 90’s. He would bring trainer Larry Uelmen 12 stake wins.

On Hazel Park’s opening night he would be one of the first faces I’d see, great big smile and welcoming handshake and hug. In 1996 the trainer I worked for was across from his barn. In all the years I worked on the backside I never ever heard one unkind word said about this man because it was never warranted.

Larry had a great sense of humor and always offered a helping hand to anybody who needed it. You never had to ask, he’d just was there for people. When Pinnacle Race Course opened, for me it had been ten long years since I had seen anybody since I didn’t travel to GLD. So many us shared a story or two from DRC that brought laughter.

Thoroughbred Horse Racing Back In Metro/Detroit Friday June 27th!

I’ve made no secret how I feel about Hazel Park Raceway’s group. From the owners to their pin up boy. But make no mistake it is the Michigan Horseman’s Benevolent and Protection Association who have paid for the racing surface conversion and barn area renovation. 350 stalls ain’t much but it’s enough to get the thoroughbreds back on the track.

Pinnacle should have went on, the State Of Michigan made sure it didn’t. Again Governor Snyder RE-INSTATE our Office Of Racing Commissioner.

Again to reiterate for the millionth time.

Before the word Lottery or Casino was ever heard it was Horse Racing that generated $400 Million dollars a year for the State.

Give this Industry not only the respect it Deserves but what it has Earned.

MGCB Director Richard Kalm’s Latest Contradictions.

Letter to Harness Horsemen by Richard Kalm on Jan. 24, 2014.

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/mgcb/2014-01-24_letter_to_Horsemen_445532_7.pdf

I love this excerpt:

The entry/starter fee is paid to the track management to cover track related matters. “This money is not co-mingled with the purse pool money. The starter bonus is an amount of money negotiated by the CHO and track to be paid from prizes awarded out of the purse pool” for horsemen who start each race.

WTF??? LOL Isn’t this the same damn thing. We all know it’s a “back door” deal. $$$ going and coming from same source. Unbelievable.

This is the one thing that pissed off the MIHBPA about MPM, having to do this to begin with. Who is kidding who here?

In it’s entirety.

MGCB Director Richard Kalm’s Games Continue. Signs Order To Approve Harness Tracks For Thoroughbred Racing in 2014 After Already Denying Northville Downs.

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/mgcb/NVD_Denial_of_2014_Thoroughbred__Mixed_Meet_Race_License_442855_7.pdf

EDIT ON JAN. 30, 2014 AT END.

MICHIGAN GAMING CONTROL BOARD – HORSE RACING SECTION
OFFICE OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

In the matter of:

John Carlo, Peter Battista, Margaret Zayti Partnership, d/b/a Northville Downs Application for a 2014 Standardbred, Thoroughbred and Mixed Meet Race Meeting License and 2014 Simulcast Permit Amended to reduce live race days from 26 to 10 on October 22, 2013. ORDER DENYING NORTHVILLE DOWNS A 2014 THOROUGHBRED AND MIXED MEET RACE MEETING LICENSE Northville Downs filed an application on August 30, 2013, for a 2014 Standardbred, Thoroughbred, and Mixed Meet Race Meeting license and a 2014 Simulcast Permit with the Executive Director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board. The application was filed under the Horse Racing Law of 1995, Public Act 279 of 1995; MCL 431.301 et seq., and the promulgated administrative rules. On October 22, 2013 Northville Downs submitted a significant and untimely amendment to their application to decrease live race days from 26 to 10. That request was denied on November 1, 2013.

On November 1, 2013 the Executive Director granted the application of the licensee for a Standardbred 2014 Race Meeting license at Northville Downs for the 26 live race days requested in the original application. While the Horse Racing Law of 1995 does not provide for the submission of race meeting applications after September 1 of each year, the Executive Director, in the best interest of racing, allowed Northville Downs to submit an amended application subject to certain conditions listed in that order and referenced below. Northville Downs represented that the amended application was for the primary purpose of converting its track to allow for
thoroughbred racing. The conditions for considering the amended application for a Thoroughbred and Mixed Meet Race Meeting license included the following:

(a) Amend the application for a 2014 Race Meet license by answering all questions as they pertain to the horse breed(s) contracted to race at the 2014 Northville Downs race meet.

(b) The licensee must submit a signed contract with all certified horsemen’s organization(s) representing the breed(s) of horses the applicant intends on racing.

(c) The licensee must submit a business plan detailing how the combination and/or changeover from Standardbred to Thoroughbred and mixed breeds will occur. That plan should detail the costs, funding and timeline involved with converting the track.

Replies to the above conditions were required to be adequately and sufficiently submitted to the Executive
Director by December 1, 2013 to allow for these amendments to be considered. However, Northville Downs has failed to meet the above conditions.

Specifically, Northville Downs has failed to demonstrate a definitive, specific, and detailed plan that could be approved according to the Horse Racing Law of 1995. The Executive Director finds the following deficiencies:

1. The licensee failed to supply a convincing plan to assure sufficient numbers of Thoroughbred horses and Quarter Horses for the proposed meet.

2. No assurance that sufficient simulcast purse pool money will be available for such a race meeting.

3. The amended application is untimely due to the ordered race dates commencing in January 2014 which does not allow for complete vetting of the application.

4. No assurance that the track will be safe for the proposed function and on par with industry standards.

5. No assurance of funding for the track conversion.

6. The submitted plan does not appear to be in the best interest of horse racing in the State Of Michigan for 2014.

Accordingly, Northville Downs’ amended application for a Thoroughbred and Mixed Breed race meeting license is denied.

IT IS SO ORDERED.

Date: December 18 2013

Richard Kalm, Executive Diirector Michigan Gaming
Control Board

Dan Adkins Can Still Go To Hell

Michigan Legislators: Nothing Has Changed. This is the same damn story and the same damn dance. Dan Adkins and who he represents are trying their best to kill LIVE Thoroughbred Horse Racing in the State. Read Original Blog from almost two years ago. No wool over the T.B. Horsemen’s Eyes. We see all to clear and you should as well.

The petition he tried to put forward was bull and now trying to amend the Racing Act yet 95% of the people that patronize the Harness tracks on Sat. & Sun. afternoons are betting on the Thoroughbred Inter-State Simulcasting Signals. 70% in the evenings while live racing is actually going on at their tracks are still betting on the T.B. Signals.

Fact

Adkins wants to amend the 1995 Racing Act. That Act States that their must be a live meet running of that breed to be eligible to receive inter-state simulcasting signals of that breed.

Let us see how long the Harness tracks would stay open without the ability to have those Thoroughbred Signals. The moment those signals would disappear their doors would close for good.

Let us the Thoroughbred Horsemen/Women Introduce that.

They want the Thoroughbreds dead in the State, then let it be ALL the Thoroughbreds coming in from the other States as well. Let’s see if they can survive without the Thoroughbred Horse Racing Breed Period.

Longshot's Blog

Dan Adkins is an Imbecile.

Thinking he can attempt to swindle unknowing individuals into this so called Petition to SAVE MI. RACING. When as written the only ones who will be saved is this GROUP he’s been hired by. Bernard Hartman and Herbert Tyner. Hazel Park Raceway real estate moguls. Or rather MORONS.

Recent Articles in the Oakland Press & Royal Oak Daily Tribune & MLive.com don’t even begin to tell the real story. Dan Adkins has himself being portrayed as some Savior for Saving Horse Racing in Michigan. And he is anything but.
