Mercy,

Out of all that she had written or how many she would sing, Lady Day couldn’t have dug any deeper. One artist that could make your soul cry because you knew in your heart her words were such truth from having lived them, until the way in which they had just let her die.

She will always be a rarity of talent that has remained very much missed.

Billie doesn’t need a lot of explanation, you just hear her and feel.

BS&T’s version was released off there second album in Dec. 1968.

In 1970 it won a Grammy Award for Album of the year.

All I can say is ” Lady Day ” certainly knew what she was talking about when she wrote this song. Every single word contained in it rings the absolute truth.
