Very sad to have heard this grand talent died yesterday. Eydie Gormé and husband Steve Lawrence defined what it is to have Class.

Both blessed with fabulous pipes but Eydie performed like a stick of dynamite. Her vocal chords absolutely exploded along with the rest of the cream of the crop of her era. She could belt out songs so powerful she left the host of any show she was on in awe.

All together again. I’d like to picture them entertaining my Dad (Navy) and all the WWII Vets there, the same way they lifted their spirits when all were here fighting to victory.

Saturday Serenade ~ Glen Miller Orchestra ~ “Moonlight Serenade”

If you have never seen the movie The Glen Miller Story with James Stewart & June Allyson try to catch it on TCM or rent it, you won’t be sorry. I’ve seen it numerous times and God knows my Mom has seen it even more. In my opinion this particular song seems to epitomize my parents whole entire generation as their theme song.
