The second race of Friday nights card will be Terry Houghton’s first race since his injury that took place at Moutaineer Park’s opener on March 1, 2014 when his mount went down.
This man has taken a pounding over his long career but has remained diligent at working as hard as he can to come back to what he loves, riding thoroughbreds. His heart is as big as the horses he rides, believe me I know. Whether in career or personal this man is genuine and compassionate and that’s why he among the winning-est jockeys.
Starts: 31,340
Firsts: 5,160
Seconds: 4,647
Thirds: 4,051
Earnings: $49,820,069
So after surgery, much physical therapy and slowly easing back in the mornings exercise riding he will get his first leg up upon #1 Unbridled Isabel trained by Wayne Bearden in the second race. Home town trainer & jockey.
T.D. will have a total of 7 mounts of the 9 race card, 8 being thoroughbred races.
Also returning to the home-base Metro/Detroit track will be Federico Mata (also 7 mounts). It will feel like the old days of the Detroit Race Course with both Terry & Freddy on the track together again. It makes it even more exciting.
So to both Welcome Home and to Terry welcome back. Nobody deserves success more.
May God bless all the jockey’s & horses and keep them safe.
Post Time of the first race at Hazel Park Raceway is 7:30PM
Thoroughbred Racing…..Catch It!
Nice to see you back in the saddle, too. How’s your eye trouble? Better, I hope…
Still the same, went through some tests (MRI/MRA) Thank God that came back good, but now going to have to go through some more. Thanks for asking Diane.
