Wednesday When It Was Music ~ “Stormy Blues” ~ Billie Holiday

Mercy,

Out of all that she had written or how many she would sing, Lady Day couldn’t have dug any deeper. One artist that could make your soul cry because you knew in your heart her words were such truth from having lived them, until the way in which they had just let her die.

She will always be a rarity of talent that has remained very much missed.

Billie doesn’t need a lot of explanation, you just hear her and feel.

Written by Billie Holiday
Recorded September 3, 1954 Verve records

Billie Holiday – vocals
Harry ‘Sweets’ Edison – trumpet
Willie Smith – alto saxophone
Bobby Tucker – piano
