Sexy Sunday with Elvis & Kitty White ~ Crawfish

Mind you they are singing about FISH.

Funny when I hear it I’ve got other things on the mind. LOL

Only Elvis Presley could sing a song about fish and make it sound sexy.

This was from the film “King Creole” and this was my favorite Elvis film and soundtrack. He blew everybody away with “Trouble” but again what caught my ear when I saw this when very young was this sultry song sung by Presley and Jean “Kitty” Bilbrew aka Kitty White.

White was a jazz vocalist who mainly stuck to the West Coast and the LA scene. She recorded with different jazz musicians of the 1950s & 60s on Capital & Mercury Records. And this song wouldn’t have been the same without her.

Woman sings in a hollering sexy moan, Man answers in an equally sexy tone. Perfection!

In reality this song was on the soundtrack of the 1958′ film with an Elvis intro. Nobody put it on vinyl until 1978 with Kitty’s intro. I wonder what the hell took them so long.

The first video on this blog is from the films bluesy intro itself. Kitty White died in 2009 at the age of 86.

Crawfish will make you hungry but then there are different kinds of hunger and fish ain’t on my menu when I hear this. I don’t think anybody did when they heard Elvis sing it.

Ugh…….. Crawfish…….. anything you say baby.

Excellent post, but please indulge me in a little “oldsplaining.” “Crawfish” was released as a track on the ‘King Creole, Vol. II’ Extended Play 45 (RCA Victor EPA 4321) on July 29, 1958. The soundtrack LP (RCA Victor LPM 1884) was released on September 19, 1958.
