My Life Song ~ Born Blue ~ Cheryl Lescom

Why am I the target of all this pain and abuse!

Damn you’ve got that right, this line hit home deep down in the soul.

I learn something new everyday, we all should.

Cheryl Lescom ( from Kitchener, Ontario ) has been on the Canadian music scene since 1975 and was once a backup singer for Ronnie Hawkins. Later she toured with Long John Baldry before beginning solo career in 1983.

But yet this singer has never crossed my Blues Realm that I know of. I may or may not have come across her vocal chords. She’s definitely got my attention now.

Hey it’s never too late to get turned on by a talent that’s obviously been out there for a long while. This artist has been at the Detroit Taste fest with-in the last 9 years. So since I’m downtown all summer long making the rounds of different venues throughout Detroit , I might have been watching and listening to her not really knowing her name, who she was or how deep the background went. Better late than never.

I could not find any lyrics to this song Born Blue by any artist. So it may be her improvisation of Mel Tormé, Robert Wells ” Born To Be Blue ” with some lyrics completely changed around. But to me Born Blue is a completely different song.

She had an album out in 2007 called High Heeled Blues. Two songs hit a nerve, Baby Crying and Firehall.

You can listen to them here.

There doesn’t seem to be a lot on You Tube on her but hopefully that will change.

Even more Muse to listen to. Just click on the songs and it will bring them up in the Media Player.

Drink My Well Dry is Blues at its best.
