Song of the Day ~ Gut Wrenching Gritty ~ Big Brother and the Holding Company ~ Ball and Chain

Cheap Thrills Style.

Released in 1968.

Janis Joplin – vocals
James Gurley – guitar
Peter Albin– bass
Sam Andrew – guitar
David Getz – drums

Blues come from with-in. You live it, you experience it, and it comes out of you as a Soul Wrenching Feeling. Sang from the depths that only the person singing and playing it can feel and know. It’s comes from your Heart.

It’s an individual feeling contained in your soul let out by musical expression.

Living the Blues in order to sing them just isn’t a cliche. Because something deep down inside of you is how it all comes out.

And nobody sang this song like Janis. Written by and Idolized by Janis along with many others, Wille Mae ” Big Momma ” Thorton.

And James Gurley’s screaming guitar on this jam. Outstanding. That expression came out in this song with and without words. One sang them, the other’s Guitar spoke them.

That is Blues………….
