I write this blog Bonnie, I put it all together. I worked as the blog stated at DRC from 1976-98. And yes I do my research well as to linking the respective articles that defined what Livonia, the State and the pathetic company of ladbroke did to us. Thanks for the comment, I did edit all the CAPS out as its easier to read.

My sadness goes beyond to utter sickness that we no longer have DRC. How I still long for that track each and every day of my aging life.

It makes me homesick for DRC when I see these pictures and read the articles, whoever put it together did a great job.

Yes the city had us backsiders pegged as bad influences, but they didn’t know each person had to be licensed through the State which included being fingerprinted to even enter the stable gate.

And horses also thoroughly checked through the spit barn after a win with blood and urine samples. If they caught anyone from the ones hauling out the manure to a jockey using drugs or behaving in an unruly manner you were kicked out. Professional sports should be manned this closely.

Your welcome William and yes I’ve got the credits on top and none other than the greatest bass player of all time played on the song. Mr. James Jamerson (I highlighted him alone). This was off the 65′ Shotgun album. James and Benny Benjamin were on Shotgun.

When you finally lay this down flip me some audio. I miss those early days of Motown. I was born just three blocks from Hitsville in 1957. Did I know when to enter the world or what? LOL

Thank you for the info on “Cleo’s Mood.” It is also my favorite Junior Walker song. I’m a blues guitarist and recently paid a friend to transcribe all of what Junior plays on sax. I was curious as to who played bass on the track. I thought that it could be James Jamerson but I didn’t want to assume and be wrong. I love everything about this song and I agree that it could be longer but the way that it fades out on the intro guitar figure allows the possibility of adding as many chorus as you like. I also think that the head is well suited for repeating the last four measures (twice) as an ending which is how I had my sax chart written.

I turned 56 Monday and I find myself going back in time more and more frequently. Musically better & innovative in my opinion, I’d gladly step into a time machine to take me back to this era and leave me there permanently. Please come again.

I grew up in Northern Ireland, and seeing Kenny McDowell and Jim Armstrong perform with Skboo every Saturday night at The Errigle Inn was like a rite of passage for those of us going to university in Belfast. On Tuesday nights, it was just Jim and Kenny, acoustic … lots of John Prine and Little Feat covers. A favorite was Kenny’s version of Graham Nash’s Sleep Song. Not sure how I landed here, but glad I did since you evoked some great memories of a long time ago.

My Grandfather served on the Tennessee from 43-45. He was also onboard when the plane hit her. I remember him telling the story and saying that they never found the sailor who was the bugler. Thanks.

Looks like I have to update some videos again as YT removes them with such frequency.

Yes, Steve Marriott was absolutely phenomenal and was a gigantic contribution to the soundtrack to our youths and adolescence and has been one very sorely missed musician. I have even more music that highlight’s Humble Pie and Steve throughout this blog-site.

I’m glad you enjoyed it and here one more to reflect upon of his undying talent and the rest of his band mates.
